Here are some of our favorite books that came out on Wednesday, April 16th!

Hulk #1HULK #1
(W) Mark Waid (A) Mark Bagley (CA) Jerome Opena

Following the shocking events of last month’s INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK finale, Bruce Banner lies at death’s door! If he survives, it WON’T be as the Bruce Banner we’ve known! How will the Hulk wreak vengeance on Banner’s assailant? How CAN he?

The Hulk has always had some interesting twists and turns to his story, but I have to say that this one surprised me. I went into it thinking, “Oh, I’ve seen this before…”, but I have to hand it to Mark Waid, I was not expecting the ending I got. Kudos to him and the awesome Mark Bagley for piquing my interest in the Hulk again!

Solar Man Of The Atom #1SOLAR MAN OF THE ATOM #1
(W) Frank J. Barbiere (A) Joe Bennett (CA) Juan Doe

“This all started with an accident…”AN ALL-NEW CORNER OF THE GOLD KEY UNIVERSE! Flooded with experimental radiation that grants him unbelievable powers, the brilliant-and-obsessive Dr. Phil Seleski seeks to unlock the secrets of the universe, begrudgingly becoming a “hero” along the way. But can a single man be trusted with near-limitless abilities? What will this mean to the ones he loves? And will his choices lead to utter chaos and destruction? Brilliant writer FRANK BARBIERE (Five Ghosts) and JOE BENNETT present the Man Of The Atom as you’ve NEVER imagined!

Dynamite continues with their fantastic relaunch of the Gold Key universe with this latest incarnation of SOLAR. As with TUROK and MAGNUS, the book plays homage to the existing versions published over the years, but they are doing it their way and with their touch. Some nice twists and a cool cliffhanger leave me wanting to read more; I’m even more excited to read DOCTOR SPEKTOR now!

X-O Manowar #24X-O MANOWAR #24  (AH)
(W) Robert Venditti (A/CA) Diego Bernard

Prelude to Armor Hunters: Part 2-Who – or what – is the man called Malgam? Aric of Dacia, a fifth-century warrior bonded to alien armor and transplanted to the modern day, is now the most important weapon in the arsenal of M.E.R.O., the top-secret American intelligence organization that monitors extraterrestrial life on Earth. In order to protect his people, Aric must undergo dangerous missions in space, but nothing can prepare him for the stunning secret that awaits him in the stars! The march toward X-O Manowar #25 – and the coming of the Armor Hunters – continues here in an essential prelude to the Valiant Universe event of 2014!

It’s been 2 years since the “relaunch” of this book and it continues to get better and better! This particular issue (and technically, the issue before) is a great jumping on point, as the series approaches the upcoming Armor Hunters saga. So far, nothing has been able to beat Aric and his X-O armor… but here, we get our first glance at the heroes/villains that are going to be making a HUGE impact upon the Valiant Universe!

Honorable Mentions

This book is so messed up… but in such a good way!

Man, do I love this book! Is it wrong that I want to be on this ship?

Bob Fingerman continues his piling of abuse and though love onto Rob… poor guy. But, I can’t stop reading about it.

This book never disappoints. The best Crime book, ever!

A great ending to the run of the “Spider-Ock” storyline!
